AAFV Student members:  We have great news!  The AAFV has received donations from the FishVet Group, Inc as well as the University of Florida, Wildlife and Aquatic Veterinary Disease Laboratory  which will fund two student scholarships, ie. The AAFV Student Scholarship - FishVet Group Scholar and the AAFV Student Scholarship - UF Wildlife and Aquatic Veterinary Disease Laboratory Scholar.  We want to thank both these groups for their generous donations.  With these donations, it is anticipated that the AAFV will be able to award 3 scholarships for this upcoming year.

The American Association of Fish Veterinarians (AAFV) recognizes the burgeoning cost of veterinary education coupled with the fact that most veterinary schools do not provide training in aquatic veterinary medicine.  Thus, the AAFV Student Scholarship Program has been established to assist veterinary students in their quest to increase their experience and training in aquatic veterinary medicine, specifically fish.  This includes but is not limited to participating in aquatic programs, short courses, externships, conferences and presentations, and research projects.  Current AAFV student members are eligible to apply for the scholarship.

The AAFV executive board and student scholarship committee has set the amount for each scholarship at $500.  The number of scholarships offered each year will be dependent on available funds. (Members, companies and associations who are interested in training the future cadre of fish veterinarians are invited to contribute to the fund by sending donations to the AAFV treasurer with the description that the funds are to be used for the student scholarship).

Scholarships will be presented once a calendar year and need to be used within one year of being awarded.  Previous awardees will not be eligible in subsequent years.

Only complete applications received by the deadline will be considered.  Recipients must also submit a written report about their experience to the AAFV Scholarship Committee within one month of completion of their experience.  The application form is available below and should be submitted to Lester Khoo at khoo@cvm.msstate.edu.
